Developer Job Board / Oblivion Entertainment Hiring
« on: May 09, 13, 03:04:17 PM »
Greetings everyone and thank you for your interest.

Oblivion Entertainment is a small, independent company developing the online MMORPG Oblivion: Destiny's End.  Based on our long term MUD project founded in 1997.  We are currently interested in hiring in new developers and extending our staff.

Current Staff
Joshua Clay, Lead Programmer
Kelsie Fitzpatrick, Lead Developer (MUD)
Lonnie Morris, Lead Developer (MMORPG)
Alexander Glaeser, Lead Writer / Admin of "The Void" Radio

Generalized Developers
Adam Hawkins
Chris Ferreri
Jon Labbe
Justin Maxwell
Robert Wilkins
Seth Desoto

2D/3D Designers
Bridgette Kingery

Our Mission
It is our desire and intent to bring the MUD feel to the world of MMORPGS.  What MMORPGS have most been lacking in is innovation, and true roleplay.  We want to create a world in which the players forge the storyline, and your actions have an actual EFFECT on the world.  More than killing a monster that will simply respawn a few minutes later.

Additional Information
Our staff is small, but our heart is large. Our world is rich with history and story, that has been forged over the past 17 years of interaction with players and ourselves.  We will not sit here and promise money.  Essentially we offer a legally binding contract, granting our developers a portion of the company and its profits (Should the game be completed and launched).  Our current assets and properities are Oblivion: Destinys' End MMORPG, Oblivion MUD, "The Void" Radio Network and www.suescollection.com

Specific Hirings
We have opportunities for multiple generalized developers, multiple DJs for "The Void", two additional 3-D Designers as well as one webmaster.  We are a close knit team with a passion for working on our game.  Having worked on and produced MUDs as a team for a number of years, we know how to continue on through the hard, and tough.  We cannot promise we will be successful, all we can promise is that we will not quit.

If you want more information, please visit our website at http://www.oblivionent.com or contact jobs@oblivionent.com or feel free to contact myself via Skype at: jclaydash

Thank you for your time and consideration, we hope you will elect to join our team!

Design & World Building / [Resolved] Whitebox Collision
« on: Feb 20, 13, 07:26:50 PM »
My whiteboxes have stopped colliding, no idea why, but all of them are just walk-throughable.  Any ideas?  I've tried toggling every flag in the properties to no avail.

Scripting & Programming / [Resolved] Question about Arrays
« on: Feb 20, 13, 08:53:43 AM »
In our MUD, an array was simply defined in a header file, such as this:

int                     stats[5];

How would I do a similar definition in the DOM Editor for player statistics which I am coding onto the O_PlayerCharacter class?

Design & World Building / Buggy Water
« on: Feb 20, 13, 08:52:07 AM »
Does anyone else have a problem where their model cannot figure out if they are in water or out, and jumps up and down (not literally jumping but model moving) real fast, the the camera acting funny.  All of my designers seem to have this problem if their water is not super deep.  Any suggestions?

Scripting & Programming / [Resolved] Removing E_PlayerCharacter
« on: Feb 15, 13, 04:05:30 PM »
I've removed all references to E_PlayerCharacter and emptied its scripts, but I still cannot seem to delete it, gives me an error with Javelin.pkg.  Is this script undeleteable?

Scripting & Programming / [Resolved] Terrible Accident
« on: Feb 15, 13, 01:47:11 PM »
I accidently deleted all the fields in my _PlayerCharacter class, while in the process of wiping out E_PlayerCharacter.  Is there any way for me to restore that class to its previous version?

Scripting & Programming / [Resolved] Races and Classes
« on: Feb 06, 13, 02:02:46 PM »
Alright.  I've reached an impasse.  I need advice from people with far more experience than myself.

I'm quite used to MUD coding, and the way MUDs work.  This entire SpecOracle thing is very confusing to me, but I am getting it.  Now on to my question.

What would I gain / lose by attempting to implement my races and classes with the Spec Oracle, instead of hard coding them?  In my MUDs I always created an OLC based editor for such things, for ease of use of my developer, but as the classes and races would only be changing in an expansion, I find that could be ill suited to this environment.

Design & World Building / [Resolved] Areas Question
« on: Jan 30, 13, 05:06:00 PM »
Is there any way to see who edited what assets when, and who edited which areas when and to see the save history of the areas?  I can't seem to find this on the wiki.

The reason I ask is this.

This is all of my skydomes now.  I just made that area, and thats it now.

I used the F5 Menu to edit my character.  Using the sliders worked fine.  Now that I've selected a field in the dropdown menu i.e. Head, it greyed out, and I dont have a character model.  I'm simply a floating axe, and cannot select Head->Lower Body, etc.  Any field I select with the dropdown menu is now greyed out.

Image Relevant.

Scripting & Programming / [Resolved] /who type command.
« on: Jan 29, 13, 09:12:48 AM »
I've not been able to find a stock version of the /who command or anything that shows me who all is logged into development or where.  Actually cant find a way to travel directly to a player.  Do I need to implement these, or am I overlooking them?  Thanks.

Developer Introductions / Oblivion Entertainment
« on: Jan 27, 13, 11:26:33 AM »
Hi all.  We are Oblivion Entertainment and we are currently developing Oblivion: Destiny's End MMORPG.  Our goal is to bring the interactivity and close knit relationships between GM's and Players from MUDs to the world of MMORPGS.  Having grown sick of seeing WOW Clone after WOW Clone pop out over the last five years, we finally made the decision to transition to the MMORPG Community.

Primary points of contact are:
Myself, Lead Developer (jclay@oblivionent.com)
Kelsie Fitzpatrick, Lead Developer (MUD) (kfitzpatrick@oblivionent.com)
Lonnie Morris, Lead Developer (MMO) (lmorris@oblivionent.com)

Our website can be viewed at:

Pleasure to meet you all!
