Art & Art Pipeline / Issues With Character Import
« on: Mar 18, 13, 11:57:37 AM »

I have the model rigged correctly using the skin modier with 3ds max biped system.  Normal typical rig nothing fancy not using any other bones or controllers just standard biped.  It is just one male that has 2 hero textures on him one for diffuse then other normal map with the specular in the alpha channel.  I go thru the character export process 1 by 1 exactly as it needs to be then when its ready export it out in 3dsmax 2012 is what im using.  During the export process it does say it quits but it doesnt you hit cancel then it exports correctly all the needed things.
The male then has 2 character parts the shirt and boots that are selected then using the dynamic character parts ticked I export selected the parts to the parts folder that was created during the character exporting process
also in 3ds max 2013 the exporters dont even work they quit indefinately so might want to mention that as well.

"As far as I can tell the height maps are being flipped to the side when you export them... So in Hero when your facing East that's really north based on how the height maps are imported."

We have imported 16 maps into Hero, but it seems something is happening between export from World MAchine, to import into Hero.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

If you are familiar with World Machine and Hero and can help us figure out where we are going wrong in our exporting of our Height Maps and importing them into Hero, I'll pay you $200. Must be resolved by Sunday evening to qualify for pay.

My skype is jasonappleton77

I'm looking for someone who can model, rig and animate the base Male and Female Player Characters for Greed Monger.

Due to the switch to Hero from Unity, we are having to redo create these from scratching using Hero's system.

If you are familiar with this process and looking for paid work, please message me on skype: jasonappleton77

Developer Job Board / Re: Need Height Map Importer/Linker

I can find programmers, and have some senior level programmers but they don't know Hero Scripting and I can't afford to pay these guys to learn on the job. James is a programmer and knows Hero but he's also swamped as it is until I find others.

I'm going to post some ads on some development/programmer sites and see what I can come up with.

Our game isn't like other MMO's as its simply an open world full of resources and the systems players will use to build their cities and such themselves.

I'm trying to find more Hero programmers but there don't seem to be many available or looking for work right now....

These kinds of pipelines and scripts would be very useful in some form of Asset Store offered by Hero. It was a major luxury to have something like this in Unity and I'm sure they make a fortune off of that system.

Hey Cooper,
 I found this post:

Our programmer created a series of scripts that breaks up a large heightmap into small areas, moves them to the areas, and seamlessly links them, takes 20 minutes to do a 4km area, not weeks. Also you can use HALF or QUARTER terrain resolution, making a smaller 256 area quadruple in size, HALF resolution still looks nice and uses the same amount of resources.

But the guy who posted this (Stadi_Thompson) hasn't been online since December. I'd REALLY like to get my hands on something like this if you have any idea where to look.

I've emailed you.

We aren't in any bad place right now, but I'm interested to learn more about what you can bring to the team and terms for compensation.

It's better to look into the potential future prepared than be caught with your pants down. :)

Small world!

We are currently looking for Assistant World Builders
We are also looking for Hero Programmers to aid in various elements such as Crafting, Resource Gathering, Melee Combat, Spells and general Skill Progression.

I'm running Vista.

I am not a developer, but I am logging in to see what the development team is doing and for some reason, Hero is running REALLY slow, to the point of barely being able to rotate the camera. Clicking anything has long delays etc.

I run Skyrim at max settings at 1920 resolution at high FPS. So I'm really not sure what could be causing this.

Intel Core i7-3630M.CPU @ 2.4 GHZ
16GB Ram
Vista 64 Bit OS
Geforce GTX 675M

I mean, this laptop is supposed to be one of the best on the market right now.

Is there something I should look into?
