You might want to try the dev link for dx9 runtimes... the web installer doesn't include everything.  (It states that it's missing certain key components in the description.)  This is what enables dx9 games that need d3d9.dll, etc. - check out this link.


I think you can also look through your optional windows updates for the files as well... not quite sure why windows makes this a pain in the arse.

unfortunately not really. Me and my team moved to Vancouver 3 years ago and are currently working in the local industry.
We are very excited about Ominous and we will surely resume working on it as soon as we can.
It is important for me to maintain my account and access considering we plan on creating that initial quest that unfolds the style, story and gameplay to the world :)

I like the sound of this game. Do you guys have a website or facebook?

Sure, I'd love to join the group, however, I'm primarily a CG artist and can only contribute perhaps with some knowledge in that. We're currently not in active development so I'm afraid I'd be a bit useless at this stage.

I think they are looking at this from what i see in the skype group chat hehe and good to see you back gaarzen. You guys resuming work on Ominous?

It's currently on a halt considering we moved to Vancouver but we can't wait to get back to it :)

it sounds like you're missing something...

Lets break it down a bit, do you already have the heroengine blade and launcher installed ?
You said you had formatted....  and so I'm a bit confused heh, have you downloaded and installed a fresh copy of the launcher and the blade?

if you did format then you'll need to reinstall the autolauncher, the blade etc, the autolauncher first.
Before you install the autolauncher you should install and update java, .net4.0, directx runtimes and distribs.

Would you please run a DXDiag (http://hewiki.heroengine.com/wiki/Dxdiag) and send the output to support@heroengine.com?  I've attempted to reproduce your issue as described and have (as yet) not been able to duplicate it, which makes things tricky.

As a separate step, please try to run the launcher installation file as administrator (right-click the .exe and select Run as Administrator).

You might try some of the troubleshooting recommendations for the Microsoft installer from Microsoft's site (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2438651).  Please note, while the documentation is for older versions of Windows it appears to still be appropriate for windows 10.

I have sent an E-Mail to support with my dxdiag output file as you suggested.

I have tried running the file as an admin but unfortunately the problem is the same.

I tried different solutions from the Microsoft support page but couldn't find a solution to my problem.

Hey guys,
I recently had to format and reinstall Windows 10 and for some reason I am unable to run the HeroEngine Launcher properly.
What I get is the attached image and I can't seem to run the Blade afterwards.
I tried installing DirectX 9.0c runtime and that didn't seem to help (DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer).

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Probably because it's an irregular .heal file. It's weird that it never happened before but definitely a false warning ???

Also happens with Repository, maybe it's just me?

We have the same issue now but only in a single image. I'm assuming it's either a power of 2 issue or the alpha channel.

We are a contract game studio with experience working on HeroEngine.  If you are at the point where you need to contract some help, let me know.

Id love to talk with you about your project and how we might be able to help.

I like the cut of your jib, sir.  Those are excellent!  I'd love to play with the rigging that spider bot, it has a lot of potential for some really fun animation :D

Hello I am having a problems with the Hero Shader in Maya. Everything is working fine so I guess it is just a visual issue.

When I apply the Hero Shader on my model, the texture scales up in a weird way when rotating my camera around the object and it seems like there is some weird light glitch going on as well as suddenly having a black background.

The model is perfectly fine once it is placed ingame or in the repository browser, the problem only occurs in Maya.

Apply the Hero Shader only when you're ready to export or use Viewport 2.0.
It does mess up the default display.

Hey guys,
For some reason when I export a semi transparent object its collision doesn't work.
I have a window tile which is part solid and part transparent, both materials have collision on and the transparent part material has gradient and an alpha channel with a grey area for the glass to define how transparent it is.
During gameplay the character collides with the solid part but is able to jump through the glass area.
I am using Maya 2013,
