GUI Creation / Re: Changing Bars to Numbers
« on: Apr 23, 13, 11:36:23 PM »
Where exactly do I put the code Thaz? E_commoncharacterclassmethods? I put the text display boxes for each stat on the GUI but didn't add buttons as we don't want buttons, is there a property I set to read from the mycharacter noderef? like for strength to display as what the characters strength as?
We have added all the stats Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, hit points, stamina, and mana points I need the status bar (i assume what you called healthpanel?) to show each numerically

I am tryng to change hit point stamina and mana bars into numbers for example 100/100. Anyone know what properties I would need to change for the sliders to convert them from standard bars to numbers I would greatly apprecate the help.

damn thats what it was thanks viper I thought that was the fix to different issue, im all good thanks guys

Our team is working on an MMORPG, we currently have a concept artist, experienced coder (new to HSL), a 3D artist (mostly environmental but wants to branch out), and novice game coder but experienced web hosting and design developer and business owner. We have all concept art done all ideas for release done all dungeons drawn out world map drawn out. We are recently began creating our assets in game and coding our ideas, we are lacking one major role world building (someone familiar with HE world building tools). The idea of our game is generally an open world MMO with some ideas from games like UO, WOW, and DAoC but all combined with our own unique twist and using original art, world, items, and systems. We are all working on our area of expertise as much as possible with still working in our field full time so there is no high pressure, but we do ask to put in some time each week and be able to communicate with the team (and usually a weekly meeting in Skype to go over what we have done and what we plan to work on in the upcoming week). You do not have to be the best world builder ever, you can be a moderate world builder who is willing to be part of a team and learn more as you help build the world. PM for more info or with any questions. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you building with us soon.

I tried changing all the state presentations I could find for this GUI but can't it correct. I'm gonna post some screen shots and see if maybe that will help the troubleshooting process.

Hope these help show what I'm talking about I know another poster had the same problem and I saw you said a fix for presentation states but I can't figure out which presentation state exactly to change.

Thanks again for the awesome tutorial, I am also having the button not appearing on hover or selected. I saw the post the on changing the other presentation states to fix this and have tried filling in any presentation state that would make sense to me to fix it but I can't figure it out. Which property do I need to edit the presentationstates of? and what does it need to be?

Thanks for the advice Keeper, I have only done light coding before such as websites and player run servers for other games mostly C# and C++. Ya thats how I was planning on doing this system in small chunks such as the command I started with that so players can say /skills and it open a menu I'm also working on the GUI for now. Then I planned on just getting all the skills in and being read not exactly doing anything just being there for the game to call on. Then actually scripting what all each skill does and lastly telling the game what items and actions are based off what skill. I don't know if this is the right approach but for a project such as this and my limited coding skill so far that would be the best approach. any suggestions feel free to let me know. Thanks again all look forward to getting this system up and making a how to tut for the community.

Developer Created Tutorials / Re: Simple mana system

I have tried redoing this script from scratch three times in the past two days and I can't figure out where im messing up, maybe its really simple but i don't know im new to HSL. im getting two errors when trying to compile the commoncharacterclassmethod script

they are the same errors

 1. field 'manaPoints' not found in database:GOM;;lookupClassDefID (799): definition not found:manaPoints
 2. field 'manaPoints' not found in database:GOM;;lookupClassDefID (799): definition not found:manaPoints

I'm also getting a compile error when adding the mana to spells like abfireball

 1. Method 'AdjustMana' not found.

Ok thank you both very much for the help, when I do master it I will post  a tutorial of how to get started and the basics of it scripting skills in :) I know every game is set up different but im sure there are some generals to all skill systems that could be helpful.

Thanks a bunch Casp, no need to be sorry at all you answered my main question. I just didn't want to go through the process of making this system if HE wouldn't let me without the source code, I'm new to HE so I don't know all my limitations of of the cloud vs. source. I have been over the first 3 tutorials a few times each now and have completed them, and also used them and slightly altered them to do other things, like a function for the command to open a skills menu and command to open a backpack. I'm moving on to intermediate today like GUI for skills but havent had much time to explore it completely. I haven't been through the last two links so I will go through them tonight thanks for the basic help I do really appreciate it. If you think of any other helpful links I could use all the help I can get.

Is it possible to set up a skill system in HE using herocloud? The system would be similar to UO, with a list of skills that as players use they raise opposed to the class system that comes standard? If so how would I get started, what scripts would I work on first?

Hello all my team and I are new here, were working on an mmorpg using herocloud for now to see where it goes. Were a small 5 man team (myself am CEO but do little bit of everything except art). If anyone has any tips or hints for our team we would appreciate them. We are not new to the business we are all new to HE though. Look forward to working with the community over the next couple years. Any questions about our game or company feel free to ask.
