Hello and belated welcome! I look forward to see your progress. You are more than welcome to show off anything from concept art to actual models and ingame screenshots.

If you have not yet joined the Discord channel, i would like to invite you https://discord.gg/MwbqVgu

Looking forward to seeing some of your teams work!

You have come a long way! Very nice! I really like the Cyberpunk set. I think A Detective in Dystopia is my favourite so far. Great work! :D Keep it up.

I just wanted to pop in for those that are not in Discord channel and say that we fully understand the difficulty of not having the most recent plugins for Max and Maya for Granny. I am working with a few to help out as I am able at this time.

I am very sad to hear that they forced an update for older stand alone versions for some of you. I was not aware of this until yesterday. So thank you for letting me know this information. This is the primary reason why we are putting this on the list for the very next thing we do.

Please know that we 100% understand and agree. This is something on our end, not just Autodesk's new(ish) policy.

Again, though we are very busy at this time working on  cool stuff, the Max/Maya plugins and related update will be the VERY next thing.

We appreciate the patience and letting us know of some of the changes in policy that I was not aware of. This information has let us put this to the top of the list

I do not have an ETA at the moment. However, as soon as I do, I will let all of you know! Please do note that the engineers are working very hard. If any of you have any problems, please feel free to contact me personally over Discord.

General Discussion / Re: Starting Your Project - READ THIS

Hello Ronbon,
Thanks for your interest again and taking a look at the front side of HeroEngine. I will let users report what they see, and those on current live can report some of the changes and improvements we have made, as well as what they see coming ahead.

When i talk to those interested in HeroEngine i try to make sure what type of project they want to make or learn. If it is a single player or simple multi player game or project, I tend to refer them to another engine, if it is a persistent world for a large scale multi player or an MMO, I will explain more about HeroEngine and what it has to offer then let them ask questions and make the choice they wish.

I believe in the right tool for the right job. :)

Regarding Pricing:
For the pricing, you had mentioned you use Unity in several of your projects. Do note that $99 a year for two seats/developers (or any subscription package) includes the following:
  • Full hosting and sever costs
  • Unlimited storage
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Real time collaboration (not in any other engine)
  • Customized Repository (Clint side customized FTP) with no setup on users end
  • Built in art-pipeline (which you can customize)
  • SpeedTree tools for all seats
  • Granny3d
  • Granny Animation
  • and much more

For the revenue once your game starts making money covers the following:
  • Pesonalized assistance and support for your games servers*
  • Full Hosting costs on Elastic game servers (**up to your 30% revenue costs)
  • Unlimited storage
  • Worry Free bandwidth and traffic costs
  • Custom built Client tools including Client builds (game exe)
  • Custom support for when going into Alpha, Beta and Live
  • Option to move to Binary or Source (at lower or no royalty costs)
  • Option to buy out royalties
* Once you move to Beta, your game will be exported to a personalized server. Where you will have your Dev server, Test/Staging server and Live server(s).
**We do have a 90 day grace period to help you and us bring down costs - most of the time this turns out to be fairly simple to fix. So we do offer that full support for any games that are entering into beta throughout their post launch process as well.

I am not sure if you can pay for just servers or even a single Speedtree subscription at this cost. I have looked at and do watch the subscription prices for Unity, and when you go beyond the Personal with many limitations, including users and revenue limitations, the first starts at $25 a month ($300 a year) per seat/developer.

I am not sure if they offer any of the above yet or not. I know you can opt in for team tools at a cost including storage and limited git/p4/svn integration at a cost.

We also provide support and assistance on top of the above from live support in Discord to personalized support.

Always Open to Ideas:
I am always welcome in ways we can improve our services and how we can best fit the communities needs. This is a discussion we actually do have often from both Hero clients and non Hero clients in discord. I have gotten a lot of good ideas from the community for the up coming HE3.

So i ask you;
What can we do to make the pricing better in your mind?

Best regards,

This work has been completed and all access should work as normal.

If you are getting a time out or error window when you launch your HeroBlade, please follow the instructions to force an update for the new DNS.
  •     In your windows Search Box, type CMD
  •     redo the ipconfig /flushdns,
  •     launch your blade again

If the above does not work, repeat steps 1-4 after you turn off/unplug your router/modem. Follow these steps:
  •     turn off/unplug router/modem,
  •     In your windows Search Box, type CMD
  •     redo the ipconfig /flushdns,
  •     plug router/modem back in..
  •     launch your blade again

Again, we thank you and with these new updates, you will not have to repeat the DNS for future launcher and hardware updates.

Good evening Hero community,
We have a short announcement concerning an in progress update to our HeroCloud  launcher and server. We are currently implementing follow up maintenance to our launcher service. This includes migrating the updated launcher to a new hardware setup and configuration.

We are making additional changes by introducing Elastic IP  to the launcher so in the future this type of infrastructure update will not require DNS updates.

The work itself will take approximately x hours. Some users will not be able to access or launch the blade for up to 12 hours for some ISPís to refresh and propagate the new DNS. This is a rolling update/migration and will be completed and working tomorrow.

We will post an update once this is completed. If you have an issue once we update and state the work is completed, you can flush your dns to force it to update with the following steps:
  • In your windows Search Box, type CMD
  • redo the ipconfig /flushdns,
  • launch your blade again

If the above does not work, repeat steps 1-4 after you turn off/unplug your router/modem. Follow these steps:
  • turn off/unplug router/modem,
  • In your windows Search Box, type CMD
  • redo the ipconfig /flushdns,
  • plug router/modem back in..
  • launch your blade again

Thank you for your patience and continued support. If you have any difficulties accessing your blade after the period of maintenance and propagation is over, please feel free to let us know in this thread.

General Discussion / Re: engine bug

Most peoples DNS updated right away, but a few had some issues of the old DNS not updating. For those that might still be having the problem, may want to reset your router as well. To do that do the following and it should clear it up.

1) turn off/unplug router/modem,
2) redo the ipconfig /flushdns,
3) plug router/modem back in..
4) launch your blade again

This should clear it up for those that might still have the issue. Verizon ISP users (or any company going through Verizon) seems that their router/modem/gateway is holding the old dns in the cache. So even if you flush on your pc it will pick up the old from the modem itself.

Anyone that still has problems, please let us know and we can continue to see what we can do to help.

Skype is not quite the same as it was. I am not sure i know anyone that likes this new version.

The Discord can be found on the main site to the right by clicking the icon. Here is the url for that channel:

General Discussion / Re: Using the engine as an artist.
« on: Feb 05, 19, 09:28:08 PM »
Good evening,
I am sorry for not responding to your email. I did look through my history under Support and the Support forms and was not able to find one by you. However, let us see if I and others from the community might be able to help.

First, I would like to know what you mean by templates? What kind of templates are you looking for?
On asking that, we do have sample art to help you learn how the engine works that goes along with several tutorials on the Wiki.

We also have reference worlds to give you an idea of how to make game systems. HJ Ref, FPS Ref, Social Ref and Space Ref.

I would also like to let you know that we have a great active community on Discord that I am very proud of. They are always willing to help point you in the right direction; ranging from wiki links to samples to assistance.

Please feel free to ask anything else you like. Will do my best to answer any questions I am able.

General Discussion / Re: Building an huge city

Good afternoon Aken,
Yes, IF did purchase The Repopulation, however that is being developed by a separate team from the HeroEngine engineers.

The Repopulation remains to be a stand alone game and is not part of HeroEngine or its assets. I am sorry. We do have and include some placeholder assets both in engine and as separate downloads in your dashboard under "Additional Downloads". This includes a couple characters and some static art tile sets.

General Discussion / Re: Where is the Backend?
« on: Jan 15, 19, 11:59:18 AM »
Good afternoon Aken,
Ah, you have a site up already? Please feel free to share the link and I can look into it a little to get an idea of what type of work would be needed. I have not used or worked with Drupal in many years. However, there is no reason that help could not be obtained from someone in the community when you are ready to start integrating your game and your users into your site.

I have not looked it up, but have you already started on your game? If so, what is the name of your game or the worlds name?

General Discussion / Re: Where is the Backend?
« on: Jan 14, 19, 01:29:28 PM »
Yes, I saw, the problem is how to authenticate the users of my website to the game server  ;D

You can create your own plugin to fit what ever CMS or system you are using for your own website. This can be either through authentication plugin you create as a plugin in HE and then for your site (php, json, xml, your choice). The same thing can be done via steams API as well.

Once you get to that point there are several here that have done just this in various ways to work how they want with their system. We do not currently have a specific built in plugin for this purpose as there are so many different types of CMS's that people use, including pure HTML pages (yes there are still several that write their own back end for websites) not to mention so many different versions of each.

Here is a small list from Wikipidia that gives you an idea of what people use for their websites:
CMS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_content_management_systems
Forum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_software

To get more information on this you can view:

In the future we do plan on having a few more tools available that can work with a few of the major CMS and forum software. However, at this time my engineers are focused on getting the last bits of d3d11/12 done so we can make a nice major update for all clients on live.

At this time, anyone with web development experience (php, python, xml, html) should be able to create a nice plugin to authenticate against your games users and display in the way that works for your site. Please do note that security and privacy of your users is important, so be careful what you expose.
