Vengeance Online
« on: Dec 25, 11, 03:49:46 PM »

Figured I may as well post here for my updates, instead of constantly posting in the recruitment section, so, let me get some of the basics here :)
Vengeance      Online
Planning Sheet:

I. Main storyline.
Many kingdoms of Bironia have shattered at the might of the two major factions. These factions are each unique in fighting styles, with similar government, but, completely different people. The story of the Savaryan tribe begins on the eastern edge of Bironia, where their future king started a revolution against the Lokryonians. He destroyed the faction, leaving its people and cities in his command. Meanwhile the future Queen of Kinslavia is recruiting mercenaries. She is going to fight with the country of Basington in the war of Miclonia. Towards the end of the battle, the king is shot in the chest.
The queen saved the king, in turn, the king decided to give her a piece of land to start her own country, as this is what she most desired. This brought up the two greatest leaders known as Julia Kinslavia, and Joseph Livingston. The war between them will decide all of our futures, who will you fight for?

II. Weapons.
Muskets, swords, pistols, daggers, pikes, spears, bows, crossbows, cannons (deploy and un-deploying as well as re-loading takes time, which balances it out.).
No, their will be no magic!

III. Factions.

You will be able to play under the flags of the two major factions, there are a few other factions, but you mainly come across them in quests. The playable factions are:

Kinslavia.
Savarya.

Iv. Release Date.
Unknown, but hopefully some time in 2013.
I do hope to have a beta in late 2012 though.

V. Levels
So far, the plan is Level 1 - 50.

VI. Faction Colors
Savarya - Red
Kinslavia - Green

So, their will be NO magic as you read, which I find interesting, as it opens and closes many opportunities for game play. Such as hack and slash combat, which is what I would like to have. I would like to set up a really good inventory system, as it is probably the most important part of the game for the way I want to set it up. Pretty much, if you have any ranged weapon, so a crossbow, you can right click to zoom in your weapon. When a ranged weapon is equipped, and you are zoomed in, a cross hair pops up so you can aim, and when you hold the left mouse button, a cross hair will fade in, and when you release you shoot. To reload you will simple press the reload key, which will be "r". With melee weapons, it will be different, you can't zoom in, and no cross hairs magically pop up. Melee may sound under powered, but, when it takes 3-4 shots to kill another player, and the one of the 2 melee classes can stealth, and the other is a tank with mass amounts of health, therefore taking 5 and depending on armor 6 shots to kill. It should be fair. So, the classes now. Their will be 2 ranged and two melee.

Knight - melee tank, takes and much damage, and helps his group survive.
Thief - goes into a stealth mode and kills his enemies from any direction he'd like, though they must be cautious, as all thieves can see each other.

Musketeer - A long ranged killer, dedicated to his shots, and has a very strong aura, though be warned, a musketeer's armor is very weak, leaving him vulnerable.

The Mercenary - A mercenary wields both short swords and pistols, and if he chooses so, a musket, he does very much damage, but similar to the musketeer, his armor is weak, leaving him vulnerable.

Now, I can't make all this alone now can I? Yes, you guessed correctly   I cannot! So, can anyone fill these spots?

      Positions that need filling:
         Hsl Scripter
         Organic modeler
         Concept artist
         Prop / building modeler.
         Animator
World builders, who will work with me directly.
         And texture designers.

Ways to contact me:
   Skype: yearsofwardeveloper
   Email: battlelegion13@yahoo.com

P.S. Don't email, just add me on skype, I hardly check my email.

It is pasted from the recruitment section, as I did some edits there I did not do to my sheet, I also do need help, so I may as well. Anyways, I will get a bunch of screen shots tomorrow, today I will leave it off with a Merry Christmas video showing off my new version of my old and terrible map. You can find it on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/BattleLegion?feature=mhee or the games website itself. http://www.vengeancegame.net/

Please, do ignore the somewhat low quality of this video, my new computer has no good editing software, so I have to re-install my copy of adobe premiere, so expect the newer videos to be better. Happy holidays  ;)

Ok, here comes some screenshots. Replaced the default dynamic grass.

Made a new building, will not include interior, the dock will, but I don't have that yet.

Ok, now I will show you some of the changes I made to the map. Such as the mountains, textures and I filled in all places that needed water.

I still have the default blue flowers and yellow grass as well as the trees in there, but those should be gone soon :D
By the way, I need scripters, please come help scripters!

One thing that I noticed with the textures is consistency, you need to work a bit on your artists consistency, one way is to simply choose your tone before hand, cartoony or realistic? or a mix of both (aka star wars) the houses here seem to be focusing towards realism (but not exactly nailing it) and the terrain is focused towards cartoony, while either one is good its usually good to pick one and stay with it, on the note of your terrain, I noticed a difference in color between your grass billboards and grass texture, one way I saw it was a guy used a custom made script to take the color directly from the texture, you might try something like that, in any case, looking good, and is that landscape seamless or straight one area? just trying to help, looks good man.

Sorry it took me a while to reply. I actually am remaking every model there. I did not like the quality of them at all. The terrain I will also be re-texturing. I am going for a bit of a mix between lotro and wow style. It will be better once I get my replacements in there. Onto the grass, the grass is quite disappointing. I am not good at making grass, and I plan on taking some time to learn. However, what is there will have to do for now. Here are some pics of some of the models I made as replacements (links.)

An apartment

A dock in construction, the island is newly settled.

And finally a town center.

Last part in my post. This island is not seamless, each factions starting zone will be an island.

I will however be keeping the lighthouse I made. http://gyazo.com/ca27eb7742150c9959b83ebf44388d0b.png?1326750229

I was working on making some textures, I was focusing on a larger model, but I figured I would show you guys the dock. I added some stuff to it, it looks nice, need to add some railings, but other then that its coming along nicely. I also made a quick wood texture in gimp so its not just the blank look. Feedback on the texture please, I am new to making my own, I am hoping on improvement.

Just an update, have not got much work done, besides plenty of models, and learning to make textures in gimp, and now I no longer need cg textures, which means more time per model, which is good. However, I have not got much done because I am dealing with some real life stuff, lots of that involving school. I will get out a video in a couple days though, hopefully getting some new members.
