[Resolved] GUIs - PNG
« on: Jan 10, 13, 06:20:49 PM »

I think I posted this awhile back, not sure if I ever got an official answer.

Should we avoid using PNGs for GUIs from a purely optimal standpoint or they fine to use for most GUI needs?  I don't know if the engine has to convert them or they are used natively.  I seem to be under the understanding they get converted, but wasn't 100% sure on how that all works under the hood.  Thanks.

If the format is not DDS, it will be converted.

We don't guarantee the quality of the conversion, or the performance overhead.

If it looks good and the performance is ok, use them.

If not, preconvert them and then you won't have to worry

Cheers

Ok, pretty much what I thought as I understand how it would normally handle textures.  Thanks.
