[Resolved] Question about Water Seams
« on: Feb 13, 13, 05:30:23 PM »

How do you align the water planes perfectly so you dont see any seams. Its very annoying for me to have to keep trying to find the perfect size. is there a quicker way? (Im Using cubemaps)

You are most likely going to see a seam between two water planes, but you might be able to get it close if you're using both river or both ocean. You can move them along the snap grid, or you can use the properties panel to set positions manually.

For things like where rivers meet lakes and what not, you pretty much just have to fake it, with rocks, and particle effects, and logs and things.

Agreed, using the properties panel can line things up nicely for positioning. When I make items, they mostly have integer values and 1 decimal place if needed. Rarely do they go beyond that for alignment.

Yeap toss in a splashy particle effect on some rocks and its, what seam, granted if you have large mass seams, I could see the challenge, but I don't think that is the case.

If you are doing something other than just tying a river to lake, or a creek into a river etc, though it can be hard to think of reasons for random things to be there.

But anytime you have 2 seperate bodies of water meeting in real life there is always some wash / current change, and that warrants the use of some particles to cover up the seams a bit.

Bridges, dams and waterfalls would also probably be a good way of disguising water plane breaks.
