_AccountBoundItem and _CharacterBoundItem

Hi!

I've been exploring these spec decorators/helpers and came to conclusion that they do nothing fancy but set the isItemBound flag and the boundItemOwnerID.

Can someone give me a better explaination or describe an implementation example where i would use this info. I'm not really familiar with the concept of "bounding" and what it is supposed to do.

In many MMOs there is a concept of "bind item to x when y happens" where x is a player or account or guild, and where y is buying the item, picking up the item, equipping the item. Once an item is bound, then it can't leave whatever those boundaries are. This allows you to cycle more items out of the world and the economy, as well as limit special items from entering the economy.

The most common phrase you'll see is "that item is bind on pickup" or "bind on equip".

Ah, so i would (if i wanted) implement some logic which prevents the item to be for example dropped or given away if it is bound. Got it, thanks.
