PFX Spawning

I've been trying to work this problem out myself for a while, and since my efforts have been rewarded with...absolutely nothing, I was wondering if anyone else might be able to help.

The problem is that when I get within the radius for the particle effect (smoke) to be instanced, the smoke starts rising from the ground rather than looking as if it has always been there. I messed around with the "RunUp" setting, which apparently does the following...

RunUp When set to False, the emitter will begin emitting particles when the emitter is instanced. When set to true, the emitter will simulate having been running before being instanced. Particles are placed where their logical position would be as if the emitter had been active all along.

Unfortunately, that setting doesn't appear to make a difference. Rather than the smoke just "being there", it rises from the ground again as if you had just placed the particle effect into the world.

Anyone got a solution?

That's what run up does. Are you setting run up on on the emitter?
