Terrain Design: Books?
« on: Jul 24, 13, 06:59:16 PM »

Are there any books that teach the main characteristics and theory of terrain design?

The theory of area designing is a bit more complicated, as it also includes camera tricks, particle tricks, props placement, lighting, actors, item-placement and scripting.

Each major subject has its own book-series (especially lighting and scripting).

I heard that "Ultimate Game Design: Building Game Worlds" by Tom Meigs is a good read about designing worlds and areas specifically.

HE-Cooper is one of the more active forum members. I just try to help people when it comes to art, technical art, and general theories.

Usually I don't know the answers, but I know where and how to find them, which I find more important :)

With these replies?

Instead of the books I proposed with their theories, I would also check about rendering environments and how to set them up. That will give you some insights as well in the back-end :)
