Billboard with a texture
« on: Feb 11, 14, 02:14:55 PM »

Is it possible to create a billboard, assign a texture to it and then save it as an asset in the repository for future use?

The easy answer is no, as a billboard is a special case, but I suspect you'd find it easier and possibly more useful to either instantiate the texture as a particle, or just model a flat poly face and texture it, or use a generic material on the flat poly and then swap in any textures you wanted on the instance when needed. Then set up any of those as a 1 click placement from the asset library.

I guess if you were looking to do long sections of 2d walls or something, and not a single billboard, then those solutions don't work. And you'd either need to group up a number of the flat polys and then capture them as a library placement, or model out "wall sections" of flat polys.
