Dream Manager update incoming?
« on: Feb 13, 14, 01:52:03 PM »

So one of devs in the skype chat was asking about dream manager.

And noticed there is a new wiki entry for it for a newer version and one for version 1.0.

It appears that we still have version 1.0 on cloud access. Is there plans to move it to 2.0 soon?
We both noticed the new wiki was for Feb of this year, so looks like its brand new, entry.

There's always dozens of features in the pipeline. Sometimes because someone contracted for them, sometimes because we have them in the plan, sometimes cause an engineer has a whim. Frequently an engineer will update the wiki while finishing the feature, since it's fresh in their mind, etc.

Easy answer is, yes, almost everything filters into the cloud at some point. Unless it's something crazy bonkers just for one defense contractor. From here on out, we're keeping feature list dates private until closer to a release date, as we've found our plans change so frequently that it's useless information otherwise.

k, so I shouldn't mention the other two entries, and hidden gems i found. :)

Just fyi, it's confusing to go to lets say search wiki for dream manager, and see it show you the new version / information.

with just a single line saying for the previous version 1.0 click here.

Makes the person question if they don't have the right version which is where the topic originated at, as a developer was confused if only source got the new version or some other issue with their world.

Now with that said, I have no problem with the devs pre-building wiki entrise and having them out there possibly just put a "this is for a future release with no release date" note at the top.

That would do a few great things, lets your team make entries while they are fresh, gives us a mild hidden road map of things to come, even if it's way down the road. Keeps confusion from the wiki, keeps us the devs moral a bit higher. Could quell some chatter we have about progress of the cloud, etc.

We know you guys are hard at work etc, and also want to make sure you don't break things, and are strapped for resources, and we greatly appreciate the work. Hidden as it maybe. We also respect that deadlines are always wrong, and making them a pressure point helps neither side, aka you or us.

Remember, there are many different versions of the HeroEngine source in the wild, and developers only take certain code drops. The HeroCloud has a single version, which shortly will have the latest dream manager. It references a date of when the switch will happen. During that overlap a quick check will show you which one you have if you are confused because we include pretty pictures. :-)
