I have asked Bennett to send you the working assets he exported.  This will allow you to put known / good assets in place, in order to determine if the problem is actually in one of your other files.  Please note he's on vacation, so it'll probably be about a week before he can get you the files

This is a great idea. I'm will wait.

Cheers!

I also just created a simple box static character by hand(which took me 5 minutes) with dimensions 0,03m 0,036m 0,01m. This static character also crashes the client for me :(

here is the zip archive with the 2014 max file, texture and exported static character

I run an art pipeline we haven't shipped yet  ~~spooky future music~~

I would suggest exporting normal sized assets, and verify if those work

If those don't work, there's a larger local problem

But i managed to export numerous differently sized static characters using this pipeline already. Here is the latest experiment i made. I simply increased the size of the simple box character from the earlier archive, reskinned and reexported the static character. I get no crashes this time. It's basically the same 3ds max file, only with the asset which has increased size:

I think comparing the box_crash.rar and box_nocrash.rar files would be the key to solving this issue.

The problem is not inherent in the Max files themselves.

The bad data already exists in the HGM file that is produced.

We have had three sets of people in separate locations investigate the assets in Max, and test the pipeline using the version you have, and other versions with more validation turned enabled.  None of us can repro the issue.

If it used to work, and now it does not, then something has changed in the local environment which is causing the local copy of Max to work differently.  It could be a a Max script or plugin, a changed Max preference, a Max service pack update, Windows Update, starting with an unclean scene, ... there are many reasons.

Given the very small size of the assets, they could always have been on the edge of not working due to floating point variability.

<<<<<-----  I never ever said this!

The crash i am getting is very consistent. It is a function of the asset size.

Big objects = no crash
Small objects = crash

Anyways, i reported this problem in a good will to improve your product, but there is no way i can prove that this is a global and not local thing. And i kinda ran out of the budget for supporting this problem. You drained all the energy out of me, damn vampyres :)

Cheers!
