Camera tracking setup etc
« on: Dec 21, 14, 06:12:35 PM »

So we are getting close to being at a point where we feel comfortable making ingame videos showing our system and environment progress etc.

Anyone got some tips for taking nice dynamic shots, setting up camera tracking and all that stuff. Rather than having to run through a zone using the clunky character camera controls, would want to set up some cameras that track along a kind of waypoint and pan around smoothly looking and stopping and slowing down/speeding up where i want it to.

Cheers!

The Path System can be good for that.  Setup path(s) and add a Path Follower to each path.  Then you can parent a camera to a path follower to make the camera follow the path.  Probably good to create a separate camera just for this purpose so your normal cam can be left alone.

See:

Alternatively, you could use the Camera Functions without having to specify paths.

I figured it would be something like this. Ive done work with waypoints/paths and followers but not done anything with cameras, will have to test some things out in the new year :). Cheers Scott!
