Quartz.E DOM Editor Controls Cut Off
« on: Jun 12, 15, 04:02:35 AM »

After the Quartz.E update, I was not able to find the controls to make the DOM editor not be read-only.  Then I made the window full screen (1600x900) and saw it at the bottom.  I find that for any size shorter than that, those controls get hidden behind the box with the properties of the selected item.

The attached pic shows them beginning to disappear at a window height of 898.

Maybe there is supposed to be a scrollbar for the overall window?

When moving the divider between the enum/field/class definitions and the parent class section, a ghost image appears of the search area.

add:
also the settings does not save the DOM being set to a separate panel. Each time its open, it goes back to initial setting where it was on the left.

Any workaround for this? I cannot uncheck readonly in DOM, which is stopping all further development (buying a larger monitor is not an option).

At present to use the DOM, I have to pull it from the side and let it stand as a free window. Then I enlarge it to see all the parts on it. Once its bigger (resized) everything can be seen, which includes the "read only" check. But since its a child window of the editor, it wont go to the back of the list. It has to be either reset with the other docked panels or clicked off.

I guess that works only if you have a large enough monitor. I have a 17 inch monitor and can't develop on it. Tried re-sizing, changing resolution, nothing works.

You do not have 1080 in height resolution available?  Or is it not working even at that resolution?

The maximum i can set is 1366x768, and it's not working in this resolution.

Yeah, I found it had to be greater than 898 in height for them to become visible.  I had hoped the fix would be in the last update, but no.  Hopefully soon, as I can see how it can be a real roadblock without a large enough resolution.

I'm by no means endorsing this particular program,
However I used to use it alot when I had a smaller monitor.

I'm not sure if it will work for your OS but you could check.

The current version is here:
https://stefansundin.github.io/altdrag/

If that one doesn't look like its for you, google for "alt move window" or the like, and you'll find programs that
let you hold the alt key down, and click anywhere on a window to move it.

Using this, you can slide the window up, "oversize it" by dragging the bottom down, click your buttons, and then either resize it, drag it back down, or whatever you like.

Hope that helps ya

Shouldn't there be a CLI command to setting/unsetting the DOM read-only? Anyone knows it?

I think the commands entered by use of CLI don't require that the DOM "read only" setting be on or off. I have entered a few CLI commands a while back, but did not have to change that setting to do it.

This has been fixed in the next update. In the mean time you can make edits to the dom via the CLI http://wiki.heroengine.com/wiki/CLI as that is the same way the DOM Editor issues its updates.

Also, Thazager is correct, the read only flags are purely for the GUI so you don't accidentally click things or make edits you don't want to make. CLI commands don't have these restrictions because it is assumed you know what you are doing and won't accidentally type in something that would be destructive.

Awesome!

It's actually been a good exercise for the guys to get better aquainted with the CLI and the backend operations.
We tend to get spoiled with menus at times.

Thanks

CLI commands are in my opinion, the fastest way to create a new DOM definition.
