Quartz.E GUI Editor Control Hierarchy Missing?
« on: Jun 12, 15, 04:09:49 AM »

I don't know if it is just me, but since the Quartz.E update, when I open a control in the GUI editor, the Properties panel no longer shows the edited control's hierarchy (where one would add, remove or move controls) but only shows the properties themselves.  Did that tree get moved?  I viewed the panel at 1600x900, and even tried 1920x1080, but to no avail.

I have seen the same thing here. This means that when the GUIs textures are off a bit from the update, they cant be fixed until the Control Hierarchy is back in.

When can we expect the next update? This bug has stalled our development.

While not totally stalling us, it does slow things down a bit.

Confirmed fixed in Quartz.F. Thanks!

EDIT: Wrote too soon.  The tree is there upon opening a control, but when I double click a prototype from the GUIEditor panel to add a control, the tree disappears from the Properties panel again.

But at least with this, we can save the gui after adding a control, close it and open it again.

Interesting, Scott could you post exact steps your taking for this?
It seems to be working on my end.

1. click any hierarchy control (panels)
2. double click a new control to add
3. its added in correct control

the hierarchy tab still exists for me.

Mine just did the same thing, when double clicking to add a control, it removed the tree area, and is now focused on the new added control.

im not able to reproduce that issue.

How many controls (aprox.) does your control have?

I've created several new controls and edited quite a few old ones and haven't had this happen so far.

Never mind, I see why im having no issue, you guys might the properties panel docked with the other panels.   I have the properties panel in its default location by itself and all other panels are on another monitor, with no issue.

If I dock the properties panel with another panel, i get the same result with the hierarchy panel disappearing.

at least you can get around it by putting the properties panel by itself..  I keep mine on the right side in its default location.

*edit*
This seemed a bit more "assuming" than I intended to be lol

This has been fixed and will go out with the next update.

In the mean time the problem can be avoided by not having the properties panel hidden when adding GUI controls to the currently being edited GUI. Closing the GUIEditor and then reopening it will bring the tree view back as well should it be lost.

If there are other specific situations that make the treeview disappear please let us know but in testing this only happened when the property panel was not visible at the time a control was added.

I see, good to know. That is true about it being hidden, as I keep the GUIEditor and Properties panels both tabbed in the same window, thus they don't appear at the same time.

I use the same layout here, as my screen is kind of small, an old dell monitor. With no huge screen, I cant have panels on both sides and still see the character on screen.

If you can, get yourself a second monitor and dual-screen setup.  It does wonders to have 1 monitor for just the viewport and all of the panels on the other monitor.  I've had that since going to HeroEngine and now it drives me nuts to work on another PC that only has 1.

Yeah I have a big flat screen for working, and a smaller 20 inch for all the panels.  Thats why I didn't notice the issue with the properties panel to begin with lol..  I started trying everything I could think of to make it happen and then it dawned on me to dock it with the guieditor panel.

Dual screens rock, I only wish It wouldn't forget my layout about twice a week =P

Thaz you might try arranging two sets of panels on one side? (one at the top and one at the bottom)
I know that would reduce visiblity of both panels though.
another possibility is dock the properties panel on the bottom, reduces visibility but is less restrictive on the workspace.
