Can you get displacement maps to work on Heightmaps?

Let me clarify a little.

Can you currently within HeroEngine assign a displacement map to a Heightmap like you can a Hero Object?
We dont see any way to do this, might just be blind!

I could be wrong, and someone correct if I am, but here is my thought/answer from my own experience:
No, not out of the box. You can create custom systems and shaders to be applied, though I am not sure if all that work would be worth it.

What are you tying to achieve exactly? What is your desired effect and feature you want to achieve? This might help give a better idea on how we can achieve your goal.

It might be easier to do that sort of work in the 3D modeling program and save it as a mesh, then import it into HE

If you're referring to adding a material to a heightmap as you do with objects using materialOverride, then no, theres no way setup to do that in HE using the tools we have.

I agree with Amarak.

I prefer building a mesh in max for terrain.
