maya and 3ds max 2018 pipeline setup help
« on: Jul 30, 17, 08:29:40 PM »

Im trying to get my student versions of maya and 3ds max set up, but there are no pipeline files for the 2018 versions. The latest is 2016, but when i tried using those files (HeroEngineArtPipeline2015.2) it failed. Also, chrome no longer supports java, so i cant use the auto installers.

Is there any way to fix this, or do i need to figure out how to downgrade my student license to 2016?

2016 is the most current version of the art pipeline, so you need to downgrade to that version of 3DS Max and Maya. The last I heard, 2017 is still in development so I don't know how soon 2018 will be available either.

Hopefully, 2018 support will be available early in 2018. The art curriculum at my college requires Maya/Max 2018, so that is all we have available for development. If we can't get art working in HeroCloud, we have no game. If we have no game, we have to move to a different engine, which I am desperately trying to avoid.

Anyone know any workarounds? :'(

Download the student version of Max or Maya 2016 and use it for HE stuff. If you make objects in Max or Maya 2018, you can "save as 2016" version and use them in the older programs that way.

We're aiming for a Q1 2018 release of the updated pipeline.
