After listening to your Podcast Interview, I notice that we have a few similarities between our MMORPG games.  I just want to re-assure that we are developing our game with a unique plan, and are not copying anyone.

Right on Josh. :)

At least you have a sense of humor.

Some similarities we have:

Space ship going to a planet to colonize, Clones, Player Controllable Territories, Guild/Faction Oriented Gameplay.

We are going Fantasy/Sci-fi Hybrid though where the Repopulation is going pure sci-fi. I just wanted to be clear that even though our games have similarities, both the way we are presenting and implementing the similarities are completely different. As well as the fact that we are completely different Genre games as our game is based around swords, psionics, martial arts and our camera view is first person/third person hybrid (like Dark Messiah)

Edit: We are still in discussion with the direction that we are going to take because there is still debate on what the engine and/or team is capable of compared to my design elements.

Depends on your definition of high-end machine.  It will require a dedicated video card and a dual core CPU is recommended.

If your talking about frame rates and such. I have a box here with a first generation dual core, 2 gigs of ram and an ati 4650 card (low end gaming card that is a couple of years old). On that box if you disable dynamic shadows you had maxed frame rates (60-100 fps). With dynamic shadows enabled that dropped to barely playable (18-30 fps). It should be noted that this was before 1.65, so I'm not sure how terrain LOD would improve that.

On my current box (i7, 4 gigs of ram, 32 bit win7, mid-range ati card (one of the 6600 series, don't recall which off hand) you can go all bells and whistles with shadows at max frame rate.
