[Resolved] Few Queries
« on: Oct 04, 10, 03:57:36 PM »

Hi all,

I am very new to Hero Engine I have been reading through the wiki and all n all is looking really good and I am starting to get comfortable with the engine.

I have a few queries if anyone could answer please as ive tried locating the answers but no luck.

1. What is the type of DB Injection used for example is the Character, Account data etc all saved in SQL?
2. I was looking into Node editing etc for combining objects adding icons to specific areas and placing items to the character and I seen a screenshot of a tool:
screenshot: https://hewiki.heroengine.com/wiki/Image:BucketItemSpecVisualization.JPG
Is this part of the engine or?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what you mean by "DB Injection"?

That dialog is from HJ REF, which you have access to use as an example.

I didnt know how to word it properly about the DB Injection, basically what stores the Character Database etc? I know we have to programme the input but are we free to use a specific style of data injection to the database or is there a 1 way system?

There's something called the DOM - Data Object Model - which you can read more about on the wiki.

There are separate client and server DOMs.

One of the jobs of the server DOM is to allow you to define data heterogeneous structures like a character, and then specify whether the data is stored, its priority, etc.

You don't have to worry about directly interacting with the database.

The DOM also controls things like whether data is replicated, its priority, etc.
